INTRODUCTION TO METAL BRACES:
Metal braces offer the traditional look of braces. But not all metal braces are the same. Complexity, Size, and color variations distinguish the different braces types.
While many adults do get metal braces, metal braces are really designed for adolescent patients who want different colors on their braces (see color options below). Adults generally prefer clear braces.
WHY GET METAL BRACES?
Price
Metal braces are slightyly cheaper than ceramic braces. For those on a budget, this may be a compelling reason to pursue metal braces. In general, children do not appreciate the esthetics offered by ceramic braces. As such, the added cost is not justified for children or adolescent treatment. However, once a child turns 13 years old, most will benefit from ceramic braces for the added social comfort.
Tie Color Options
Metal braces allow you to have fun with different colors. The wires are held into the braces using colored ties (known as ligatures).
